Obituary

On October 8, 2026 our family lost its anchor. William “Bill” Lentz passed away peacefully in his home following complications from Parkinson’s disease. He has left a void that can only be filled with the fond memories he gave us.
Bill loved his time on the golf course, watching sports, negotiating a “good deal”, and above all else, he loved his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Pam, his 3 children, Mark, Jeff, and Wendy, his brother Tom, sister-in-law Melinda, son-in-law Justin, niece and nephew Bret and Kacy, and his beloved grandsons, Mason & Liam. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harriet and Earl Lentz.

BIll was born July 7, 1947 and raised in Wichita, Kansas. He was an avid athlete and used his 6’5 height to his advantage as a 1st baseman. He went on to play college ball at Pan Am University. He graduated from there with a degree in Education and soon after married his 1st wife, Judy. The two up and moved all the way from Southernmost Texas to the great white North of Loyal, Wisconsin, where he took great pride coaching their high school baseball team and teaching. This was a time he always spoke fondly of. He made lifelong friends and became an avid snowmobiler in the winters amongst the 6’ snow drifts and days that sometimes never went above zero degrees. He became father to his three children during these years and later left teaching to get into sales. After a few years, he moved South to warmer winters and more economic opportunity, ultimately ending up in Plano, TX with a new wife, Pam.

Bill traveled throughout the country in sales and physician recruiting, tallying over a million miles on his flights. He retired early, bought a Labrador, and began working weekends as a starter at the Glen Eagles Country Club. He often spoke of his friends at the course and how much he enjoyed the mutual respect and laughs that it brought him. Driven by high expectations for himself and those around him, Bill wanted the best for everyone. If you were facing a challenge, Bill would tap every resource he could to find a solution. Additionally, whether striking up a conversation with a waitress or squeezing in a tee time for golf buddies, he genuinely sought connection and common ground, often through humor.

Much like that of his own parents, legacy was important to our Dad. It was always “Family First”. He found tremendous joy and pride watching his children and later his grandchildren find success in a challenging world. He stopped at nothing to show them love and connection, often making them laugh through silly gestures, encouraging haircuts by asking “if their barber had died”, attempting to draw attention by dancing in a still crowd, or just saying on repeat “your Grandpa loves you”.

Our hope is Bill positively impacted your lives the way he did ours. We knew him to be a good man and a good father, and we will be forever grateful to him for his time spent steering us to be good people. It was an honor having him as our Dad and we celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him.

We offer blessings to all who were touched by Bill. May joy and peace find their way into each one of your days.

Bill was a great friend to all the guys in our golf group at Gleneagles. I would describe him as honest, thoughtful, caring and very helpful

Bill always made me feel welcome and treated me and the boys with kindness. He took a genuine interest in my work, regularly asking how things were going and often telling me how proud he was of me. That meant a lot to me, and I’ll always appreciate it. I’m grateful for the time we had with him, his sense of humor, and the love he had for his family. He was a good dude, and I’m glad I got to be part of his family. He’ll be missed.
