He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

Obituary

Betty Joy Hall Stewart was born on January 7, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Cordelia Taylor Hall (Sanford) and Morris Hall. She passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at the age of 91.

On August 27, 1954, Betty married Lowell Arthur Stewart, beginning a life together that included raising four children and the many adventures that came with being a military family.

Betty was a warm, loving, and welcoming woman who had a special way of making everyone around her feel at home. Her kindness and generosity extended far beyond her immediate family. She welcomed people from all walks of life with open arms and an open heart, making friends wherever she went.

Above all, Betty will be remembered for her faith in Jesus Christ. She had a heart for reaching out to others in His name and sharing His love with those around her. She faithfully taught her children and grandchildren about the Lord, passing along the truths of Scripture and the importance of knowing and following Jesus. Her faith was an important part of her life and the legacy she leaves behind.

She was known for her wonderful sense of humor, her spirited personality, and her enthusiasm for the college teams she loved to cheer on. Betty brought laughter, warmth, and a little excitement wherever she went. Her presence was memorable, and those who knew her have countless stories to tell.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lowell A. Stewart, and her grandson, Michael Stewart Turner.

She is survived by her four children: Vicki Stewart Harris (Buck) of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas; Darla Jo Stewart Bennett of Cabot, Arkansas; Laura Stewart Gorczynski (Greg) of Whitsett, North Carolina; and James Stewart (Jodi) of Dallas, Texas.

She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, her sister, Joann Hochstetler, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Betty will be remembered for her welcoming spirit, her laughter, her love for others, and the many lives she touched throughout her 91 years.
