Betsy Fleming Kittle, age 76, of Chicago, IL died peacefully on June 13, 2026 surrounded by her children Julia Kittle Hynes and David Kittle.
While born in Kansas City, MO, Betsy grew up in Wilmington, Delaware to parents Dr. Edward "Mac" Fleming and Alice "Pat" Crew Fleming. She graduated from Tatnall School where she played varsity field hockey and lacrosse, and later graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a degree in journalism and then DePaul University with a Masters in Liberal Arts, with distinction. She was a market reporter for the Chicago Board of Trade, a licensed CNA, and later was an ESL teacher for adult students at Truman College.
Betsy led an active and joyous life in Chicago and built made deeply authentic friendships where ever she went. She was free spirited, curious, creative, fun, and kind. She a loving mother to Julia Kittle Hynes (John Hynes) and David Kittle (Erica Gagne Kittle) and was the most incredible grandma to her five grandkids (Maura and Keira Hynes, and Wyatt, Evelyn, and Riley Kittle).
She loved to watch the moon rise over Montrose Harbor, watching her favorite band Conjunto play in festivals around town, "Grandma Friday's" with Maura, Keira, and Grandma Sara, taking the twins (Riley and Evelyn) for playdates at the library, collecting sticks from Winnemac Park with Wyatt, the Hamilton Street block party, summers in Cape May, NJ, fiesta and the greasy-pole in Gloucester, MA, and family dinner's at the Athenian Room.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the next few months. Pease stay tuned for more information.
