Obituary
It is with profound reverence that we share the transition of Atur Eliyahtsoor Ben Nasik Aharon, Frederick Melville Saltus, a man whose life was a testament to unwavering faith, integrity, and service. Atur peacefully departed this earthly realm on 25 October 2024, at the age of 75, leaving behind a spiritual legacy of love, activism, and community-building.
Born on 23 May 1949, Atur was a devoted husband to Suriellah Cynthia Young and a loving father to his four cherished children Yadiel Shamel Saltus, Rinah Karima Gardner (Boaz Jamal Gardner) , Nireeyah Jameelah Brinson (Ohfer Brinson), Bahteeyah Tiana Ahyaana Young and his six grandchildren (Kamryn, Amishai, Masai, Liel, Ehden, Khayil). His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he instilled in them the values of loyalty, honesty, and a steadfast commitment to making the world a better place.
Atur's earthly journey was marked by his dedication to social justice. Known to many as Atur Eliyahtsoor, and lovingly called "Abba" by his children, he was a beacon of strength, a devoted leader, and a compassionate soul who touched countless lives.
A pillar of the African Hebrew Israelite community, Atur’s life can be marked by several projects with a purpose to uplift African ascendants across the diaspora. As a prominent figure in Bermuda’s Black Power movement and a founding member of the Black Beret movement, he stood courageously against injustice and fought tirelessly for equality and truth.
As a skilled plumbing contractor and educator at Bermuda College, Atur dedicated his life to empowering countless young men with practical skills and opportunities, equipping them to build brighter futures. His entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering commitment to community upliftment left a profound and lasting impact, not only in his homeland of Bermuda but also across the African Hebrew Israelite Community worldwide, where his work inspired transformation and unity in every jurisdiction he touched.
Atur’s work was not confined to any one place. Through organisations such as Bold Spiritual Initiative NGO (Borehole Drilling, West Africa), Universal Peace Federation NGO, Good Food Matters Charity and the Black Fathers Group in the UK, he worked to build stronger, more connected communities, offering practical solutions to improve the lives of others. His charity work spanned continents, from mentoring and supporting young men and families in Bermuda and beyond, to building wells and infrastructure in Ghana and Benin.
Atur was also a man of the earth, finding spiritual connection and peace in gardening. He nurtured the soil with the same care and intention he gave to the relationships and communities he built.
Atur Eliyahtsoor’s enduring attributes of faith, love, and action is a testament to a life well-lived in service to the Most High and his fellow man. His profound belief in Micah 6:8—“to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy Yah (God)”—guided him in every endeavour, shaping a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

When I first met you 3 decades ago you were a loving family man, evolutionary thinker, builder, professional plumber, soldier, teacher, and dedicated servant leader. Your contributions have left a global legacy, spanning Israel, Bermuda, U.S, the Edenic lands, and beyond. An extraordinary pillar of the British Isles Jurisdiction, a dedicated agriculturalist, and so much more—but most importantly, my brother and friend.
Although I miss your physical presence, I give thanks to Yah for placing you in our midst and blessing us with your powerful spirit. A courageous soldier for Yah and His people, always standing steadfast in your love of Yah and His people, your beautiful family and your mission to serve.
I find comfort in knowing that your legacy of wisdom, service, and unwavering commitment to truth will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing you. Your light continues to shine through the lives you’ve touched, and your spirit will remain a guiding force among us.
Rise in everlasting peace, dear brother. Your impact endures forever.
With love and respect A Yehudeet
Shamel, did you know that your abba had a global impact and he touched the lives of so many? Did you know that when the need was the greatest he was there? Shamel did you know?
Rinah, did you know that you abba made a difference through his faith, his commitment to education and his dedication to healthy living. Rinah did you know?
Nireeyah, did you know that your abba was a great man who had a significant and historical impact. His love for family, his stance for truth and justice along with being the best Saba anyone could have asked for. Nireeyah did you know?
Bahteeyah, did you know that your abba was a strong leader, the best provider, and a dedicated protector. He made countless sacrifices for his family and his faith community? Bahteeyah did you know?
Shamel, Rinah, Nireeyah and Bahteeyah did you know that your Abba was always there, he showed up and was truly present. He completed his assignment, and his spirit will continue to live on through all of you and all of us. Did you know?
He was a pillar of the global community especially his faith community. Atur was someone we could look to for guidance, direction, strength, and support. His legacy will surely live on in his wife, his girls, his relatives and family and friends.
His faith community, his stories shared, lessons learned, and the love he instilled in each life he touched will never be forgotten. May his memory be a blessing and honored through the strength and love he shared with others. Eliyahtsoor didn’t just talk; his example was in the life he lived. He didn’t speak about change, his life was about change and improvement to the global community. Change in the body through diet, change in the mind through education and change in the soul through his faith in God.
Suriellah, I can’t imagine the depth of pain, concern, stress, and other emotions you must be feeling right now with so many heavy challenges facing our family all at once; it’s a lot.
I want you to know that Jill and I are here for you, whether it’s to listen, help with anything or simply be a shoulder to lean on. Remember you are not alone and you have a strong support system with your Faith community and your Family; use us.
I know you want to support Stuart and Nadine during this challenging time for them. You want to support Ralph during his challenging time dealing with his wife and kids. You want to support Jill as she deals with our health challenges. You MUST support Rinah as she deals with her health challenges, Nirs is having a baby and Baht is getting married plus your husband/partner has transitioned; wow this is a lot! I’m sure there’s additional issues that we don’t even know about; again it’s a lot.
Jill is available for whatever you need, whenever and wherever you need her use her; let her take somethings off your plate.
Bless your sister by allowing her to assist you during these challenging times.
I’m sure your training and education have revealed to you that you can’t internalize all of this, you must have an outlet and you can’t be all things to all people even if we are all family.
We love you and appreciate you! May Yah bless you abundantly, protect you and grant you peace at all times and in every way.
This song seems appropriate:
For every mountain You brought me over
For every trial you've seen me through
For every blessing
Hallelujah, for this I give You praise!

I cannot think of one single, solitary moment that Dode never showed me love, smiles and good feelings from our first meeting in Bermuda many moons ago, til the last time I was blessed to be in his sacred presence in Israel.
What a spirit! What a soul! What a righteous man! Dode's laugh said it all: he was just happy to "be"
I am honored to know this Warrior King. A jewel in Yah's glorious CROWN!
Family...I am here for you all, always. Sincerely 💎
Eternal Love,
Ahk Ayton HaCohen & family.
Yah Khai.
Those engagements have taught me much about myself and the reason that destiny secured our paths.
I first became aware of Atur's towering intellect and breath of his passion for knowledge as a polymath, when at one of my early HJWC trips in tje 1990's when he delivered an exposition on the Caribbean History and its people relative to Kingdom Ingathering.
I was entranced for and felt validated as well as contextually relevant.
1. As a Caribbean Heritage KOY young citizen in the KOY in the midst of the African American cultural resonnance setting
2. His formidable integrated knowledge and how he worked the synthesis in his delivery.
Atur was a Messianic Messenger who l was destined to hear, meet and be taught by; not always in the manner l relished.
However, like my biological father [1922-1981] his legendary impact will be personally felt in my memory for decades to come.
The last interaction l had with Atur was at Ahkote Roniyah's Wedding dressed in my favourite colour; and that is how l'd like to remember his physical presence on earth..his dignity exuded. HalleluYah. Selah.
A very disciplined and inspirational bro to myself.
His advise on diet, family and Pan African Revolutionary outlook will always be with me.
He never fails to enquire how my daughter Afryea is who is good friend of his daughter.
Rest In Power.
Bro Minkah.
Gone in the physical but his spirit lives on.
Sending love, strength and positive energy to all the families....
Todah for all you've done
