Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day.
Obituary
It is with deep sadness yet with a sense of gratitude that my sister Helen and I share the news of our Dad's passing. After a considerable struggle with Alzheimer's he drifted into sleep and into peace.
Born in Perth, Scotland he was forever proud of his Scottish Heritage serving his Queen and Country in the Black Watch. Starting his working life as an apprentice, he pursued further education being proud of his many achievements and ending his professional career as an engineer with Ford Trucking Division supporting the launch of a global distribution system.
Our Dad, Archie, will be remembered for his kindness, his humour, and his love of life. In particular his love for his wife Jean, his family, and his many friends. He loved to dance. A passion that he shared with his many friends at the Southeast Essex Scottish Society. He cared about all of the people in his beloved church of Crowstone St. George's. He loved to travel. Through time he was a cricketer, basketball player, and footballer. Mum said he would watch anything that involved a ball. He loved his daughters and all of the extended family they brought with them. Most of all he just loved Jean, our Mum, who passed away in December 2018.
Archie leaves behind his daughters, Linda Adams and Helen Game and his sons-in-law Nikk and Steve; two brothers Donald his wife Pat, and Geo; five grandchildren, Iain, Alex, Archie, Alina, and Freya; two great-granddaughters, Hazel and Skye; and one niece and two nephews, Lyndsay, Craig, and Murray
Archie was a life long learner, a wonderfully talented artist, and a committed story teller. He took on every challenge life threw at him and did so with grace, determination, and with empathy for all around him. He grabbed hold of life and lived it to its fullest as long as he could.
The last few years brought a challenge he could not defeat. His voice was stilled and the light in his eyes grew dim. Yet when he couldn't find the words to say I love you he would take your hand and kiss it.
We are grateful that the fight is over and he is at peace with his beloved Jean.
He will surely be missed by all of those whose lives he touched who loved him and whom he loved passionately in return.
