Obituary
LAnne Marguerite Toomey (née Devane), 84, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, in Winthrop, Massachusetts.
Born on December 20,1940 in Brooklyn, New York, Anne lived a vibrant and accomplished life marked by ambition, intelligence, and a deep appreciation for the people and experiences that enriched her journey. Anne loved a good laugh, had a sharp sense of humor and treasured her friendships and loved ones. She enjoyed sharing stories with friends as she had an adventurous spirit and yearned to experience life on her terms. She was thrilled to have lived long enough to witness the birth of her great grandson Tristan, who she absolutely adored.
Anne graduated from St. Francis Xavier Academy in Brooklyn NY in 1958. She then began her professional life as a fashion model in New York City. Her talents, poise and spirt of adventure led her to the highly coveted position as Airline Stewardess for United Airlines. She enjoyed her travels and later resigned to get married and raise her family.
Anne continued to follow her career ambitions and created what will become her life’s biggest career accomplishment. She pioneered in a field seldomly held by women and rose to the position of Senior PCB Design Engineer for Intel. She created and designed a circuit board formula for computer microchips which are in use today.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Devane, and her sister Margaret Devane. She is lovingly remembered by her sister Jane Devane (Anthony Nascimento); her daughters Valerie Hoyle (Stephen) and Erin Toomey; grandchildren Deirdre Bergstrom (Kevin) and Aidan Hoyle; nieces Jennifer Radzikowski and Karen Radzikowski (Joey Muniz); nephews Arthur Brennan and Bill Brennan.
