Obituary
Amber was born April 14, 1979 on a sunny day, the day before Easter in Weiser, Idaho. She came to the loving home of Larry and Alayne Matthews, the youngest of three siblings. She was full of mischief from the beginning with her rosebud lips and her hair, the color of a newly minted penny.
Amber was educated K-12 in Evanston, Wyoming. She graduated from Evanston High School in 1997. After a short stint at Utah State University, Amber finished her requirements as a radiology technician at Weber State University. She was employed as a radiology tech at Snowbird Ski Resort, Altaview Hospital, and Utah Valley Medical Center.
She met and married Spencer Daniel Snow on February 14, 2006. They lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, Encinitas, California, Carlsbad, California, Morganton, North Carolina, and Mooresville, North Carolina before they moved west to Reno, Nevada. Amber became a full-time stay at home mom to her two boys--Kite and Ryder. She was adventurous and spent her time as a "boy mom" creating memorable experiences for the whole family. She always said the single most significant love achievement of her life was raising her two boys. Amber and her family are well traveled from the Bahamas, to Africa, and Croatia, Panama, Costa Rica, Canada, Paris and Hawaii and nearly every state in America, to name a few--to Amber the world was a huge place to play and learn. One of her favorite sayings: "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."
Amber has participated in all kinds of foot races. She has run everything from a 5K to a marathon. She loves to challenge herself in all kinds of sports. She has coached her boys' recently teams as well as middle school girls basketball and is an avid fan of any sport that her boys are competing. Amber survived breast cancer ub 2019 and gas earned 12 years if sobriety through AA. She promoted a healthy lifestyle by her own example of healthy living.
After her divorce, Amber finished her Bachelor of Science degree on-line in March of 2021 and immediately started her Master's program through Grand Canyon University. She graduated with her Master's Degree in October 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona finishing in public health administration and health careers. She was a strong believer in serving and helping others. She found many causes and organizations to support with time or other resources.
Amber loved her job at Renown Medical, the South Meadows Campus as Manager of Imaging. She was employed by Renown for seven years. She made a great impact on the people she worked for and those whom she worked with. She believed that teamwork and a group approach to problem solving, as well as listening and positive thinking was the way to get along with others and get things done.
Amber graduated to Heaven on October 9, 2026 at the age of 47. She had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer a year ago. She is survived by her two sons, Kite and Ryder Snow, her mother, Alayne Matthews, her sister, Tricia Holden, brother, Shane Holden, her half-sisters, Michele Coffey and Melissa Schrade, as well as a large number of family on both sides. /she is preceded in death by her Dad, Larry Matthews, and her brother, Michael Matthews.
A family visitation and a slide show of Amber will be held Friday evening, October 23, 2026 from 6:00--8:00pm. at Walton's Funeral Home, 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno, Nevada 89502 for those who are unable to attend the funeral.
The passing of Amber leaves a space that cannot be filled. Yet the memories, lessons, and moments shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know Amber. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
