Obituary
Memorial page for the late great Storky,
Born in Kilmarnock 1959 son of Jean and Andrew McLaughlin and sister to Joyce and father of two Shannon and Scott.
Alistair unexpectedly passed away 23rd of April 2025 and will be dearly missed by friends and family.
Stork was not only known as a feirce helmsman, he could read the tides and wind like no one else. Also known as a local legend to the people of south Ayrshire as your local TV engineer.
Storks sailing started at a early age with his father Andrew on his boat Spook. After moving to Troon most of his adult life was spend on off the sea, windsurfing, Keel boats, dinghy sailing and 20 years service with the RNLI Troon. Most weekends were spent traveling the coast and country for racing, wether it was staying in a hotel or camping out in the car he was there! Leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Alistair also had a love for fast cars and motor bikes and even went to the Moto GP in Donnington every couple of years, he enjoyed his holidays to Lanzarote and Spain with his kids, trips to Airshows with his son Scott and Late Andrew McLaughlin.
He was also an animal lover, his last Miniature Schnauzer Misty would also join him on his travels, wether it was fitting a TV in Barassie to having a Coffee at Largs or Prestwick sailing club they were always up to something.
