Alice Marcheta (née Herald) Hampton, 83, passed away on September 26, 2024, in Indianapolis, IN.
Born on July 20, 1941 in Richmond, Indiana, Marcheta dedicated her life to serving others, both through her profession and her faith.
Alice embarked on her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1961, working diligently in the field until her retirement in 1979. Her compassion, warmth, kindness were a comfort to all those she cared for during her years of service as a nurse.
She was a devoted servant of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 60 years. Her faith was deeply important to her, and she found great solace in her favorite scripture, Isaiah 33:24, which speaks of a time when "No One Will Say, "I am sick." This scripture exemplifies how she walked in continual righteousness to her faith.
She loved movies, with favorites including "Happy Feet," "The Sound of Music," "Dr. Zhivago," "The King and I," and "Contact." These films brought her great joy and were a frequent source of entertainment and discussion with her daughters. Her prowess for movie trivia was unmatched.
She is survived by her three daughters, Adrianne Hampton, Debbie Hampton Johnson and Sarah (Beth) Hampton; her sisters, Teresa Herald-Elay, Lola Jones and her brother James (Butch) Herald, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
5 grandchildren, Blake Johnson, Courtney (Johnson) Prebble, Nigel Hampton, Kennedy Hampton, and Sydney Hampton;
7 great-grandchildren, Stella, Frank, Jaxon, Linkoln, Grace, Brooke, and Penelope.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Herald, her mother, Dorothy Herald, and her ex-husband, Frank Hampton.
A memorial service will be held online, with details to be announced, allowing friends and family to come together to celebrate her life and legacy.
Marcheta's life was marked by her unending kindness, her dedication to her faith, her love for her family and friends.
We will always carry her memory in our hearts. She will be deeply missed.
