Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

Obituary

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Abzal, born on January 2, 1947, and who left us on May 27, 2026.

Born in Trinidad;Port of Spain, Abzal—also known as Lal, Trini, and 2D is the name and cabbing is the Game—will be remembered for his loud mouth, colorful language, and unmatched ability to make people laugh. Family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues all experienced the warmth, sincerity, and humor that made every moment with him unforgettable.

Throughout his life, Abzal built lasting connections and touched countless lives through simple acts of care, encouragement, and friendship. Conversations, shared moments, and everyday gestures created memories that will remain with all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family and friends meant everything to Abzal. And while he was loving and generous, when his “flag” went up, he was loyal to a fault—fiercely protective of the people he cared about.

His passing leaves a space that cannot be filled. Yet the memories, lessons, and moments shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Abzal Khan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Throughout the years, Dad was always there—making people laugh (or not, lol), cooking, debating politics, and insisting he was right every single time. Whether you were family or a friend, he treated everyone the same: with kindness, love, and maybe a little hustle. And if he ever got angry… well, then you definitely couldn’t shut him up.

Sharing these photos helps capture who Dad was, but they’re only part of the story.
Please feel free to share your own memories and photos if you have them. I’ll continue to update this space as I find more.

Till we meet again.

The memories of Abzal are unforgettable and will always stay with me. The countless jokes, debates, lessons, and unwavering support he shared are things I will cherish forever. He constantly reminded me to stand my ground, believe in myself, and step into my power.

I am grateful to have had him as a father figure. He always treated me like one of his own daughters and was there not only for his children but for the entire family whenever we needed him. His presence, wisdom, and love touched so many lives.

Much love to you, Abzal. In your honor, I’ll get a pair of Reebok sneakers and lace them the way you did. I’ll play under the boardwalk for you, learn how to fish, and maybe even let the current events play on TV, just as you loved to do. Those little things will always remind me of you.

Thank you for the memories, the guidance, and the love. You will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.

Rest in peace, Abzal. ❤️

My uncle Abzal (aka Lal from Tunapuna) was truly a one-of-a-kind individual. He will be missed for his unique character, his sharp and searing wit, his intelligence, his remarkable intensity and his demand for recognition. He was unwaveringly loyal to those he loved and passionately intense about his beliefs. His going away leaves a void.

My memories of Abzal are of all the times he made me and those around him laugh non stop. His jokes were one of a kind and he was always able to find the best punch lines. I’m glad I got to know him in the light I did. I am grateful to have him apart of my family and I remember always seeing him as a great dad. He was always around at the family functions and as usual making everyone belly laugh.
May his soul rest in peace forever. He will be missed.

I’ll always remember Abzal for his strong opinions, sharp mind, sharp wit, sharp tongue, and his fishing skills. He told me that his dream was to be a stand up comic, but stage fright got in the way. My heart is with the family through this loss and I hope that your memories of Abzal will be of the many ways he kept you laughing.

Rosalie im so grateful you share this moment in your life with me. ABZAL KHAN was indeed a good man, I missed being his Aide due to circumstances beyond our control. I'm saddened that i couldn't get to see him again, Abzal was loving, jovial and kind, simple yet profound, a self taught and humble individual. May his kind soul rest in eternal peace

Abzal was a bright light. He was a true people person who lived to entertain and bring laughter to everyone around him. It could be a little unpredictable at times because you never quite know what might come out of his mouth, but that was part of his charm!

He truly loved people, and they loved him right back. From the very first moment I met him, he was incredibly warm, completely non-judgmental, and welcomed me into the family without a single hesitation or question. I will always think of Abzal with a loving heart, and he will forever hold a special place in my life. 🙏🏾

My condolences to the entire family. God bless you ❤️

Uncle Abzal was TRULY..ONE of a kind! God surely did break the mold after he was born because there could ONLY be, "ONE LIFE of the PARTY", when he was present! SMH🤣🤣
He was never judgmental but compassionate and understanding, which guided me through life's ups and downs. Uncle A, will surely never be forgotten and forever will have a spot in my heart.
